Caroline Jackson
Dr Caroline Jackson is an expert and consultant on EU environment policy, specialising in waste management. Building on her knowledge of the EU institutions, acquired over 25 years as a Member of the European Parliament, she has put together a number of reports on EU environment policy, and is a frequent speaker at conferences on the recent history and future prospects of EU policies on waste and other environmental topics. She is particularly interested in the promotion of better overall compliance with EU law and regards present failures to secure good compliance as a threat to the coherence and reputation of the EU – and to the environment.
Johannes Martin
Johannes J.E. Martin serves as Managing Director of MARTIN GmbH für Umwelt- und Energietechnik. Ing. MARTIN GmbH für Umwelt- und Energietechnik engages in the construction, modernization, optimization, and modification of waste-to-energy plants. In addition, the company supplies flue gas cleaning systems, energy recovery systems, and electrical engineering and control/instrumentation technology; and produces combustion systems.
Håkan Rylander
Håkan Rylander Chairman of working group Energy Recovery ISWA, CEO and President South Scania Waste Company (SYSAV). Since 1972 working within the field of waste mangement, dealing with all types of issues, especially within recycling, waste treatment and landfilling. Operating all different kinds of waste treatment, including recycling centres, waste-to-energy at two big plants in Sweden, biological treatment and landfilling and the safe handling of hazardous waste.
Håkan Rylander is very active on a national Swedish level as well as on an international level. He is chairman of the ISWA working group Energy Recovery. He has, since 1975, given a large number of presentations on waste management, especially on Waste-to-Energy during later years, in Sweden as well as around the world. He is actively promoting waste-to-energy in articles and presentations, often using Sweden and the SYSAV-case as a good example, with a concept of integrated waste management in order to maximize the recovery of material and energy and to minimize the landfilling.
