International consultants

AEB’s specialists advise other waste-to-energy companies, industries and governments across the world. At AEB, we are constantly looking for new and better ways to process waste. We are keen to maximise our synergy with other sustainable businesses.

To remain the frontrunner in this field, we invest in training and long-term opportunities for our employees. We also attach great value to the sharing of knowledge. This is why we organise international exchange programmes for managers and specialists.

Joint projects

AEB is taking part in various joint projects to develop new technologies and exchange know-how.

These include:

  • ECOSTILER: this project shows how renewable energy and isolation materials can be used in the housing sector. AEB is working with the FarWest housing cooperative, VU University Amsterdam’s Institute for Environmental Studies, the Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment (VROM), and Westpoort Warmte.
  • NextGenBioWaste: this EU-subsidised project aims to improve energy production from waste and biomass. It involves eighteen research institutes and companies from seven European countries.

Synergy in practice

AEB’s cooperation with Waternet shows how synergy can maximise environmental performance. Waternet’s sewage treatment plant is adjacent to AEB’s facility. We use Waternet’s waste products to produce renewable electricity. In return, we supply Waternet’s plant with heat and electricity. AEB has a heat supply agreement with Nuon to store and distribute excess heat generated by the combustion of waste. This will enable us to provide heating to households and businesses for the coming years.
